What's with the fish?

I first designed the goldfish simply because he made me laugh. His sad, droopy eyes in contrast with his fancy faintail made me think of a bulldog in a wedding dress. Over time as I continued to use the design, I started to feel bad for him, & decided that he should have a purpose.

This was around the time when I started watching the nature & science documentary One Strange Rock...yes...the one narrated by Will Smith. It discusses why Earth is special & suited to sustain life.

By chance, life began, & by change, life prevailed.

So what does this have to do with the goldfish? There are often comparisons made between space & large bodies of water on Earth as origins and catalysts for life. Both are mysterious & possibly hold answers to our unique existence. I decided to send goldfish on a journey of self-discovery. Maybe he would gain awareness of his place in the world & the universe. It's a whimsical idea, but in a way, I think we can all relate.
